WILHELMSBURG, AUSTRIA

LAUFEN's factory in Wilhelmsburg has a rich heritage as a ceramics manufacturer. In 1795, a factory for English stoneware was founded here. Passed from generation to generation, its expertise in bathroom ceramics has been honed to a fine art. As of 1960, the production facilities and Gmunden factory together assumed the company name of Österreichische Sanitär-, Keramik- und Porzellan-Industrie Aktiengesellschaft (ÖSPAG). In 1967, the Keramik Holding AG LAUFEN acquired a majority stake in the company, and in 1999 LAUFEN became part of the Spanish ROCA Group.

Bathroom ceramics from Wilhelmsburg are primarily characterized by their outstanding quality, which are certified to the international standard ISO 9001 and fulfill all technical test standards (EN). The factory specializes in the manufacturing of large quantities of premium quality, sophisticated ceramics. Environmental protection also plays a key role, LAUFEN Austria AG is certified to ISO 14001 and assessed according to the provisions of the EMAS regulation. LAUFEN Austria AG was awarded the EMAS Environment Prize 2007 for its outstanding environmental achievements.
